What is copywriting?

It's writing that sells a product or service to a target audience. As such it's the writing of choice for marketing and advertising. For a fuller explanation please click here.

Why do I need a copywriter?

Everyone has the capacity to write, as everyone has the capacity to be able to cook or paint. How well you can do these things depends on your experience, training and natural ability. The best copywriters are trained and experienced in tailoring your language specifically to your target audience, tapping into its needs and thus attracting more buyers.

Fees and payment

How much will it cost?

As per the Professional Copywriters' Network (PCN) recommended guidelines, I charge per project. 

I understand that sometimes not knowing the price can be a little frustrating, so please use my 'hire me' form so I can give you an idea. All prices include consultation, research, reading and editing until you're happy with the finished product.

How do I pay you?

I take payment via bank transfer, cheque, Paypal or Stripe. I ask for at least 50% of the payment up front to book me for the job. If the project is long we can also work out a payment plan in instalments if you prefer. We would arrange these details before the work begins.

What are your terms? 

My standard terms and conditions can be accessed here. These are correct as of October 2014. I also issue a service agreement for all new jobs so both parties are aware of their responsibilities. 


Locations and logistics

Can I meet you?

That depends. It's often not necessary. I work with clients across the UK and abroad without meeting them. In these instances I've spoken to them via email, phone and Skype and provided the same high level service and quality of work they would receive in person. 

You and I would speak initially on the phone and then if you'd like to engage my services (pay for them) we could make arrangements to meet. 

Will you come and work in-house?

I'd certainly consider it if you cover my travel and board (if required). We would discuss your needs in depth as I may not need to come and work in-house, but simply attend a meeting or two (or conference call) which would be cheaper for you too.

Where do you work?

I work from home in Birmingham. However I serve many clients across the UK and abroad.

As a writer with an online connection I can work with anyone anywhere. I communicate over the phone and via Skype, email or instant messenger. I've worked with clients remotely with no loss of quality or understanding. In fact, some of my clients didn't actually have the time to talk to me at all, but sent me over a lot of information which I translated into winning copy. 


SEO

Can you write SEO content?

Yes. I can write great content your clients love to read. SEO is a funny old bird as we simply can't second-guess Google's algorithms (otherwise it would become a numbers game instead of providing great content). I focus on providing excellent content that gets your clients interested in what you have to say and offer.

SEO also requires data to be programmed into your website which your web programmer could help with - I can also signpost some excellent agencies, just contact me for more info.
